Igbaras Church and its Altar

IGBARAS CHURCH

  This is the old church of Igbaras. Alongside the town's new church, the magnificent old Church of Igbaras lies in ruins. The old limestone church of Igbaras, built in 1878, had a large convent and was one of Iloilo's most extended church structures. Unfortunately, both structures were heavily damaged during an earthquake named, Lady Caycay in 1948, which damaged and destroyed the previous church. The quake left only the church altar and it became a nice grotto of our Lady of Lourdes which is yet visible in these times.

This is the new church of Igbaras. The new church was been rebuilt after the 1948 Lady Caycay earthquake. At the back or the northeast side of the church, you can visit the grotto of our Lady of Lourdes.

THE HISTORY OF ALTARS

This is the previous altar of the Igbaras Church.

This is the current altar where the new altar is yet unfinished and incomplete. This is the time when the Saint John the Baptist and the Saint Rita de Cascia was been revamped.

This is the new altar of the Igbaras Church. The construction started in 2020 or 2021 and the completion was in June 2021.
